Newton's Second Law

We continue on in our effort to "translate" Newton's Laws on Motion into Newton's Laws on Self Improvement.

Newton's second law states that the acceleration of an object is dependent on two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object.
Acceleration refers to increasing the rate at which you get to where you want to go. The net force on the object is the amount of drive you have to get there and the mass of the object simply means how much negative baggage you are carrying.

The nice thing about this analogy is that you are very much in control of the factors that inhibit or accelerate you along the way to reaching your goal.

You truly do have to want something in order to obtain it. How much drive you have depends upon you. You have to figure out what exactly it is that you want. Once you figure this out then you have to determine how badly you want it. If what you really want to do is write a novel but instead you open your own business then you may just well be wasting your time.

How much are your past failures holding you back? Do you have negative relationships with people who continue to bombard you with negative thoughts? You have to dump it all. Get rid of it. If you can do this you will undoubtedly get to your goal much faster.

You might have a difficult time "manufacturing" drive for something you are not sure that you want.  But if you can focus your efforts on the one thing that you want more than any other and get rid of all of those thoughts that are holding you back you are much more likely to reach your goal.

Remember your past failures do not prove that you are a failure or that the next time you will fail. They may prove that at one time you were a failure but until you are dead, there is not much you can not change.  And if you are reading this you are not dead yet.
