Cabrini Holy Water

Mother Cabrini     Mother Cabrini

There is more to drink in Golden Colorado than Coors beer. There is a sacred spring sought out by over 140,000 people from around the world every year. This holy water is said to heal and provide relief for those who believe.

Mother Cabrini was the first American citizen to be canonized a saint. She had founded several schools and hospitals. On a visit to Colorado she arranged for the purchase of a piece of land not know to have a good supply of water for the purpose of utilizing it as a summer camp for an orphanage. Because of the lack of water she was able to get the land for a very reasonable price.
Legend has it that one day when visiting the nuns and the girls she took her cane, touched a rock and instructed those who she was with to move the rock and dig. A spring was revealed and it is this spring along with two others that has supplied water to the Mother Cabrini Shrine for 90 years.

The Shrine features a retreat and a 22 foot high statue that overlooks Denver.

Due to the recent drought, unfortunately the main "holy" spring as well as the two others later discovered has had to be supplemented with city water brought in by truck.

Still though, small paper cups are offered to pilgrims wishing to partake of the healing powers of the water. Guests are asked to limit what they drink and what they take to less than a quart.
