Dear Future School Shooters,
I would write you after you perform your deed but since your last victim in the ultimate act of cowardice is usually yourself it is necessitated that I write you now.
I know I should be impressed with your power as you mow down innocent unarmed individuals in a closed room, unfortunately for you I am not. Shooting fish in a barrel is not really a challenge. It would be difficult to use the word cowardice too many times.
Selfish would be a good word to use too. For you are the ultimate victim are you not? Somebody was mean to you. You were not treated fairly at some point. You are just misunderstood. Poor, poor child, I assure each and every one of you that so many people have existed that were given less than nothing of chance to succeed in this life but obtained the greatest heights. Your solution demonstrates only weakness. To persevere commands honor and respect.
For obtaining the ultimate low you will bring a lifetime of shame upon your family and friends. No these people do not deserve our ire but they certainly do not deserve your brand of pain either. You show 'em buddy.
Ironically the most memorable story will be the victims, the families and the schools. There will be heroic acts that will outshine your despicable action. People will grow together, come to each others aid, and be a source of strength for one another. You will actually bring to light some of the good things about our society.
The real world is not easy and no one should be promising you anything else. Society is the great evil in your eyes so you will do your part to destroy society by killing handfuls of people. Ironically your victims are largely unknown to you, have never done anything to you and many of them would have offered to help you if you would have only asked.
I will not not preach to you that you could make a positive impact on the world and that perhaps you should be focusing on that. I do get you. You are angry. You are filled with hate. You want to hurt because you have experienced pain.
However, let me inform you that human existence requires pain. To live a life free of harm is just silly. Growth is not possible without adversity. If there was not adversity there would be no heroes and there would be no opportunity to develop character.
You will be painted and correctly so as psychotic. Yet many people with more issues than you somehow refrain from shooting unarmed people. So is there any justification for what you propose? Is there any rationale for what you do? Only in your mind.
If you pull off what you are thinking about you will not be a success you will be a failure. You will not show power, only weakness. We will not remember you, instead we will remember your victims.
Ultimately is society responsible for your downfall? The correct answer is no. However, the thought of holding yourself accountable is not possible to someone who only thinks of themselves as a victim.
The rest of us will not live our lives as victims, but as survivors. We are all survivors in this world as long as we keep on fighting. Even if the one we are fighting against is our self.
