There Will Be Another Day

Many Indianapolis Colts fans remember when the much maligned owner Bob Irsay and Mayflower trucks brought the former Baltimore Colts organization to their new home in Indianapolis.  We did not have a world champion then.  We had what many called the Indianapolis Dolts.  But we had something, we had hope and we had a team.  Many might not realize that Indianapolis built the Hoosier Dome before we even had an NFL football team.  Now that is vision.

There was another day for Indy.  It is today.  Congratulations to the World Champion Indianapolis Colts.

There was another day for Tony Dungy as well.

In late 2005 Tony Dungy tragically lost his son.  In 2005 Tony Dungy endured unspeakable pain that only a parent can know if they have lost a child.  How does one go on after something like that happens to you.

You go on with dignity, class, a humble voice and a humble heart.  Tony Dungy embodies those characteristics and you can throw in dedication and persistence as well.

On a day when the first African-American coach won a Super Bowl that same coach downplayed that and instead displayed pride in being a Christian coach and getting it done "the Lord's way."

Do you think that maybe his faith in something more powerful than him helped lead him to this point?

Sometimes before we can look inward to heal ourselves we need to look upwards and ask for direction.

On a rainy night in Miami, Tony Dungy got soaked with water and Gatorade.  He did not mind.  It was his baptism as the coach of the newly crowned World Champions.  He smiled and he laughed.  It was a great moment.

That was not his first baptism though.  He frequently testifies to that.  Tony Dungy demonstrated that he was a man among men.
