Wow! McCain Camp Makes Good Choice With Governor Palin

How about that? The McCain campaign makes a good decision, how refreshing. Up until this point the only way the McCain campaign was able to gain any publicity or news time was to compel the news media to discuss their negative tactics and their borderline tasteless media ads.

Their campaign was fraught with complications. They seemed baffled with the difficulty of defending a candidate who seems determined to hold onto the failed policies of the current administration. They are further troubled with a candidate who seemingly has his head in the clouds and who does not seem to relate or understand middle class America. Their candidate fails to understand that making a commitment to policing the Arab nations will destroy us economically and, in fact, weaken our security at home.

When Obama picked Biden I felt that it made it necessary for McCain to pick a strong Vice-President with a strong legislative or executive history. Specifically I thought that Romney was going to be the choice out of necessity. Biden makes most men look like mental midgets. His gift at oratory is both at times legendary and at times infamous. One on one Romney could have held his own.

The problem was that Romney was another wealthy man. Another person that the majority of American people would not be able to relate to.

By choosing Sarah Palin, McCain receives a great deal. A woman vice-president would be a significant historical marker, almost as much as having the first President of color. Sarah Palin in her first years as Governor has demonstrated an ability to create change and clean house in order to cut expenses. She identifies with the working class and her husband is a union worker. She represents youth which McCain has used against Obama and which should thankfully limit further attacks. Some people like youth. Youth represents innovation. Youth in fact represents change.

From listening to her speak today I believe she can and will hold her own against Biden in a debate. She is a straight talker just like Biden. She has a personality which at some time in the last thirty years McCain has lost. She has charisma and quite frankly she is physically attractive. Although it should not be, this may be a plus to some voters.

Her selection has created interest. It has taken focus off of the successful Democratic convention. It has made what would have been a bland Republican convention somehow exciting and worth watching.

During the Democratic convention both Hillary and President Clinton I believe made great progress in unifying the party and in encouraging all of the disenfranchised Hillary voters to support the Obama-Biden ticket.  Now however I feel there will be a great many of those voters once again on the fence.

Kudo's to the McCain team. You made it interesting. You made it a horse race.
