Peyton's Day

Indianapolis 38 - New England 34

Many people compare sports to life.  The similarities are obvious.  Sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down.  Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

What life lessons can we learn from Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.  I think there are two big ones.

The first one is obvious.  Never give up.  Never say uncle.  When Indianapolis came back from an 18 point deficit it was the largest come from behind victory in the history of the NFC or AFC playoffs.  That's huge.  They did not get those points back all at once.  They did not hit the lottery.  What they did is the fought on every drive and got those points back 3 at a time, 7 at a time and 8 at a time. There were three ties in the second half.  Each time the Patriots answered with points to take back the lead.  But at the end the colts were on top.

The second lesson is this.  Don't listen to everyone else.  All week long the sports news has focused on whether Peyton could get the proverbial monkey off of his back.  Could he win the big one or would he forever choke in the biggest games.  Well folks he answered his critics.  He pulled off the biggest win of his career.  Sometimes even loved ones, even those who have your best interest at heart will tell you that you can not do something.  Either because they do not want to see you get hurt if you fail or sometimes even because they do not want to see you do better than they can.  The latter happens more often than you think.  If you do listen to the naysayer's only do it so you can use it.  Let them drive your determination and your desire to succeed.

Yes, indeed it was a big one.  But Peyton, two weeks from now on February 4th,  is the biggest one yet.

Good luck in the "big dance" Indianapolis.

Website of the Week: -- zuzu.net From the website; "At the age of 5, Karolyn played the role of Zuzu Bailey in the holiday film "It's a Wonderful Life." Her childhood film career spanned 16 movies, but she is best remembered for playing the daughter of George and Mary Bailey (James Stewart and Donna Reed). C & P's comment: Karolyn Grimes life has been a series of ups and downs. Yet she embraces the good parts of her past while not focusing on the negative.
