The "What-If" Scenario No One Is Talking About
It looks as if Obama is going to end this marathon primary season with the lead in the popular vote as well as the lead in delegates.What if Hillary Clinton refuses to let a "dead dog lie" and continues on in her quest for ultimate supreme power.
Despite the encouragement of many democratic leaders to call it quits, Clinton has vowed to continue the fight. Personally I do not think that the Clinton political machine can conceive that they are going to be beat. Hillary recently pumped millions of her own money back into her campaign. She does not want to lose.
It could possibly come down to the super-delegate count. There are 842 super-delegates that can cast their support for whomever regardless of how their state voted.
Lets say that Clinton is able to manipulate enough super-delegates to win the nomination. Candidates can do this by buying them, offering political favors and if nothing else works I presume they can resort to begging.
What we could end up with is a candidate who wins the popular vote, the regular delegate vote but loses the nomination.
Here comes the scary part. The candidate in this scenario that loses is black. That same candidate is taking home in some cases upwards of 90% of the black vote.
Our nation has been plagued by racial tension since its inception. I cringe at the thought of what would happen if a elite white woman were to steal this nomination from a deserving black candidate. It would not be pretty. It could possibly send race relations back to the fifties. The rift would be widened once again.
Is Hillary Clinton willing to do this to the nation to serve her own needs. Unfortunately, yeah, I think she is. Leading democrats are starting to grumble because their party needs to be unified. So far she does not show any concern for this.
Her real test of honor could come when she needs to decide if she puts her own ambition before the health of her country.
