Everywhere Is Walking Distance

One of my favorite comedians is Stephen Wright. He has a rather unique way of looking at things that thankfully for him and for us is quite humorous.

One of his lines that you hear frequently is the following: "Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time." In its essence that statement is completely true. If you live in New York and you want to get to California you could in fact walk there if you had the time. Jobs, families and responsibilities however, keep most of us from having that much time.

Life is often compared to a journey or possibly even a walk. Although we often hear that time is precious and that time for us is limited, I believe that most of us have a considerable amount of time to work with.

What I am getting to is that no matter where you are in your life, and no matter how bad your situation is you can repair your life. It may seem like an "up hill" battle but you, more than likely, have some time to work with. You might have to walk at times and take it slowly and other times you might be able to run and when you see that finish line more than likely you can work yourself up to a sprint.

You basically have one other option and that is to give up. For some that is a real viable solution unfortunately. It certainly is the easiest route. Giving up however should never be an acceptable solution. Not when it comes to your life.

You might as well start moving in that direction. Even if for right now it is a slow crawl. Do not wait for everything to be perfect before you start because as Stephen Wright says, "You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"
